This Texan-style Cornish cyder has a taste inspired by a classic car race adventure in Texas, in May 2011. Unusual subtle fruit cake and ginger aromas are all captured in this bottle - or you can bring it alive with lime, to explode the flavours with a hard, dry finish. Drink when ’hotter than hell’ with a twist of lime.

Tap at Pump House, Shirley, Solihull. Poured a hazy straw colour with a bubbly round head. The aroma is sweet apple. The flavour is moderate sweet with a dry yeast, apple, bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Sweet but with little carbonation. Pretty good as far as ciders go. Served cool but not too cold which helped.

Box @ The Cherry Tree, Huddersfield. Slightly hazed golden ale. It’s not spicy or hot as its name might indicate, but has a taste of its own with a bubble-gum aroma and sweetness slightly dominating its apple flavour.

BIAB at William Stead JDW Darlington. Orange gold colour, no head and mellow apple aroma. Taste is sweet fruity apple, sugar syrup, juicy with some drying tannin. Syrupy mouthfeel, medium bodied, low carbonation, drying finish. Quite OK.

Bottle at the ChrisO Snow Tasting, London - thanks to Chris, most likely. Pours perfectly clear gold with a few bubbles for a head. Sugary bruised apples in the nose. Big sweet flavor with sugary apple candies, caramel, doughy bread. Light bodied with average to high carbonation. Sweet finish, lightly syrupy, with lots of ripe apples. Not great.
