Tap at Ale Arsenal. Pureed strawberry with no head except for a wisp around the collar with slight patterns. Bourbon shows more on the flavor, not much on the aroma. Bing cherry on both aroma and flavor. Overt tartness.

From tap at På kornet, Stavanger, with KH and OGJ 29.12.17. Golden amber. Off-white head. Superbly complex aroma and acid taste of brett, fruits, sour grapes, apple zest and a hint of burnt printcards. Very dry.

Draught @ Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Pours dark reddish with a bubbly head. Aroma of sour berries, tartness, vinegary yeastiness, funky notes, bourbon, cherries and oak. Taste is sour, funky and vinegary with loads of cherries, some oak, bourbon, wood and toffee. Finish is funky yeasty, vinegary and oaky with loads of sourish cherries, tartness and bourbon. Quite heavy and aggressive.

Bottle at RBSG, 2011 vintage. Dark and woody aroma with sweet cherries and some tartness. The sour is mostly prevalent... I think at this age the cherries have faded quite a bit. Still some fruity sweetness, but mostly a sour vibe. Light touches from the bourbon barrel. I?d like to try this again with a more recent vintage.

Amber, bright. Thin head, this has a woody, slightly phenolic accent. Tart. But with some balsamic character, complex and nuanced.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass; 2014 vintage bottling, listed at 9.6%. Pours fairly crystal clear medium orange/amber/slight pinkish color with a small dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of huge sweet/tart/sour cherries, cranberry, strawberry, peach, apricot, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, white wine, fruit skin, almond, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, hay, straw, brown sugar, and bread dough; with lighter notes of caramel, leathery/musty funk, pepper, cinnamon, white vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruit/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, spices, bourbon barrel, and moderate malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge sweet/tart/sour cherries, cranberry, strawberry, peach, apricot, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, white wine, fruit skin, almond, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, hay, straw, brown sugar, and bread dough; with lighter notes of caramel, leathery/musty funk, pepper, cinnamon, white vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness. Moderate fruity/lactic sourness and light-moderate yeast/oak spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour cherry, cranberry, strawberry, peach, apricot, lemon, lime, green apple, red grape, white wine, fruit skin, almond, vanilla, bourbon, toasted oak, hay, straw, bread dough, pepper, cinnamon, leathery/musty funk, light vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruit/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, spices, bourbon barrel, and moderate malt flavors; with a great malt/sourness/spiciness balance, and minimal puckering flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from sourness and tannic oak spiciness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/acidic, and lightly tannic balanced mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 9.6%. Overall this is a fantastic fruited sour/wild ale. All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of fruit/funky/acidic yeast, cherries, spices, bourbon barrel, and moderate malt flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the big ABV, with the balanced lactic/acidic finish. Outstanding levels of fruit, Brett/Lacto funk, and bourbon barrel notes; without being overpowering on any aspect. Nice malt presence with minimal residual sweetness. A highly enjoyable offering.

Poured from a 750 ml 2011 Project bottle. Aroma is cherry forward with some medium light spice notes. Light bourbon and faint oak notes. Hints of almond. Light malt notes with hints of raisin and prune as well. Pours a hazy brownish red with a medium sized, thin, tan head that recedes quickly to the edges where a very small amount lingers for a bit. No lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is moderately acidic with a light sharpness to it. Moderately sweet with lots of cherry notes. Some light malt character. Light bourbon and faint oak. Hints of almonds. Some spice notes with raisin and plum. Some light alcohol spice. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice sour, especially for the high abv. Good cherry notes with complimentary spice, malt and bourbon notes. Acidity is a bit sharp but not too bad.
