Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Reddish amber with a slight, off-white head. Rich, rounded caramel notes, red berries, tropical fruit wine gums and a decent, bitter finish. Good.

Penderels Oak, Holborn 1 Nov 12. JDW Festivaløl. Dyp brun. Lavt, litt farget skum. OK fruktaroma. Smaken er søt, tung frukt. Litt kjedelig.

Copper coloured pale ale with a mild character. Slightly smooth with a bitterness that lingers.

Poured from cask into a nice little one-third pint glass at JDWs Penderels Oak. Off-white, fine laced head. Next to clear amber-red in body appearance. Mild dusty hops mixed with grainy malts to the nose. Dark grapefruits, some herbs and semi-sweet malts in the flavour profile. Smooth dry bitter finish. Well bodied. Half way pleasing (London, 01.11.2012).

Crosse Keys Spoons. Light haze on this amber beer, tidy off white head. Smooth palate. Semi dry sweet malts with a little cream. Usual Greene King repressed hops - a trace of lemony citrus. Finishes dry. Not bad - some more hops would have been good of course.

Cask @ JDW Standing Order, Edinburgh 261012 (Taster)
Golden amber, clear, thin dense white head, with some lacing
Aroma - caramel malts, soft citrus, soft aroma
Taste - soft caramel, soft citrus hop, light toffee, soft english hedgerow hops, good I’m not getting much of that GK yeast, flavour little too understated...going towards 6.5 for taste
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body. Finish as main flavour, soft bitter linger
Overall - Well this not as bad as I’ve heard...step in the right direction for GK and considerably better than than the dismal IPA

Light brown colour with quick fading head. Subtle fruity aroma with some darker malts coming through. Quite an unpleasant gassiness on the palate. Flavour is on the whole quite bitter with slight malty fruitiness.

Cask at the Quinns Head (Harlequins RUFC ground) into a plastic pint glass - 21/04/12. Orange amber pour with small white head. Sweet malt and orange on the nose but more so didn’t have so much of that boring GK whiff about it! Sweetish tasting with caramel and hops. Medium bodied with a sweetish finish. Better than standard GK IPA by a good margin but pretty average.
