Another brewery that we’ve been following closely, but have seemingly managed to pass like ships in the night throughout our existence; Pomona Island broke onto the UK brewing scene in 2019 and haven’t looked back since - a welcome addition to the Manchester brewing community and proof that the hype doesn’t just exist behind Piccadilly Station. As it had been so overdue for us to collaborate together on a beer, we figured we may as well go all out when inviting our friends from Salford to North Wales - where else could we go than to brew our biggest triple IPA yet? A four way dance of the freshest possible crops of Mosaic, Citra, Talus and Strata, we wanted to bring the flavour to the max on this beer, without that cloying sweetness that can befell the style. We’d say we’ve knocked it out of the park with this beer - if we’d have packed anymore into this beer we’d be bursting at the seams; with 24g/l of bold passionfruit, tangerine, sweet berries and coconut, with a whisper of rosewater and sage for complexity, this is definitely a beer fit for a birthday celebration.

Can from Great Grog. Pours murky yellow to orange with a thin white head. Aromas of strong tropical fruit. Mango and passionfruit mostly. Taste is more of the same. Boozy, but expected it to be. Fruity finish.

CBJ bottleshare. Thanks to me for the can. Hazy gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Airy palate, smooth, a very slight viscosity. Decent fine carbonation. Airy malts, a mild creamy sweetness. Soft pine into some fairly bitter hops. Rich ripe citrus. Hop spice. Good depth of citrus peel, orange, grapefruit and some lemon. Airy bitterish finish. Enjoyed this, a fairly old school Tipa but with some modern aspects. Nicely done.
