Just in time for the holidays is our special treat to you, a dark, chewy bock beer. Around November you’ll find ‘chocolate bock’ on tap at the brewery. No other beer has a more pure and intense malt character as a true Bock. Many large breweries in the U.S. have diluted the original strength of this beer, but we make the real thing. The body of this beer is rich, making it a good beer to warm up to during those “special” Midwest winters. The blackened malt that we use in it gives the brew a slight hint of chocolate. It’s a smooth brew, having been lagered for over a month in our cellars.

12 oz. bottle. Dark brown color, thin, fast dying head. Aroma of toffee, citrus and yeast. Flavor of toffee, light chocolate, yeast. Light body, mild carbonation level. It just overall seems kind of bland.

Bottle. A- Malty, subtle toffee. A- Dark brown color, clear liquid, beige head. T- Iron, watery, malty, subtle bread. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, boring finish. O- To make a short story long, a Dunkler Bock was one of my last styles to try. Searched for ever and everywhere to find one. Finally came across this a few days after I finally found a Dunker Bock (Anchor Bock to be exact). I loved the Anchor and was excited to try my second Dunkler Bock now. Well, this sucked. I expected it to have a fair amount of chocolate in it with some other nice notes but not so. It was very malty. Lots of blood/iron taste to it and very boring. A bland beer.

Since HuskerTan, jbuskirk and I didn’t find any Millstream beers around Omaha, and Millstream didn’t make it to the Great Nebraska Beer Festival, I was happy to find them at the Wohlner’s next to my hotel. Bottle. Clear brown color, tan head. Aroma of sweet cocoa. Taste has chocolate, toffee. OK.
