The first in our Retro Sweet Shoppe mini series, we’ve taken inspiration from our favourite sweets from childhood. A tangy sour base is backed up with sweet cherry to maintain some of the juiciness and distinct fizz of this classic sweet.

Can. Clear but very deep reddish brown beer, good tan head. Nose is a decent rendition of Cherry Cola. Palate is light and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Taste follows the nose but with more intensity. It's a passable impression for sure albeit a little tarter than the real thing. Fairly dry finish. Something about this started to get chewy about a 3rd of the way in and I found myself reluctant to drink more.

Keg @ Crown & Kettle, Manchester. Very dark cherry-red with an extremely thin head. Its aroma is very similar to the popular fizzy drink, although its taste is more alcohol than what it is modelled on. Has a cherry aftertaste.

Keg tap at the Queens Road Tap, Leicester. Magenta brown with a small pinkish-beige head. Aroma of stale supermarket cola, some chocolate shavings. Sour cherry taste with a little sweetness after the initial sip, with more chocolate and cola in the finish. Bitter/sour aftertaste. Weird stuff but certainly enjoyable, if a little gimmicky.
