Bottle 275ml. @ ChrisO Snow Tasting. [ Vintage ???? ]. Clear medium brown colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, oxidide, light bread, nutty, dark fruit. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average duration, bread, oxidide. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. 20+ years and only 3.1% not bad. [20130120]

Bottle at the ChrisO Snow Tasting, London - thanks to Chris, I presume. Pours clear ruby with a fine, off-white foam. Big oxidised aroma, light caramel. Light sweet flavor with semi-dark malts, raisins and toffee. And of course there’s an overriding character of oxidation. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Moderate dryness in the finish, some dusty caramel, cardboard. It isn’t completely bad when you consider this beer’s age (20+ years, I would say) and that this is NOT a beer I would ever consider aging; but it certainly isn’t good, either.

Bottle at ChrisO Snow Tasting, thanks to Chris. Nice to see waxing was popular at Young’s back in the day.... It pours deep brown with a small white head. The nose is musty, oxidised, wood, but actually has some dark fruit in there (prune, plum & cherry). The taste is not so good... cardboard, old wood, musty, oxidised, and a hint of caramel/brown sugar with a dryish finish. Not much to it really. Glad I tried it, but it was a challenge to get through a small serving.

Bottle, big thanks to Chris at Chriso Snow Tasting 20/01/13. Wax seal - god knows how old this is/was! Mid brown with a thin off white head that clings to the edge. I don’t blame it - bet it thought it would never be drunk! Nose is malty, nutty, wood, oxidisation evident and no surprise, background boozey notes. Taste comprises malts, heavily oxidised notes, treacle, syrup, sweet sugary meh meh. Medium bodied, a surprising amount of carbonation for the age of this bottle, sweet finish. 20 years old perhaps, just about palatable but glad to be sharing this 275ml bottle !
