Aroma: Dark chocolate and roasted malt.

Appearance: Black body with a large tan head that holds well. Light lacing.

Taste: Red grape and chocolate with a slightly tangy finish. Nice balance of citrus and malt flavours.

Palate: Medium body with a slick, oily texture. Average carbonation.

Overall: Brewed as a low ABV ’Irish style’ stout - I’d definitely choose this over Guinness.

Cask-conditioned at the Three Tuns, Bristol 12/10/2012. Near black in colour with a slight, off-white head. Decent stout, with plenty of dark fruits, some chocolate and a dryish finish. Good.

Cask at GBBF 2012. It pours very dark brown, with a bubbly beige head. The nose is roasted malt, charcoal, nut, smoke and ham. The taste is dry roasted malt, charcoal, dark fruit (particularly cherry), ash, spice, light smoke and bitter chocolate, with a dry, ashy finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. A flavoursome and robust stout.

Cask @ The Southern, 270712
Black, yellowish tan creamy head
Aroma - soft roast malt, faint chocolate
Taste - soft mellow roasted malts, soft dark malts, light bitter, I’m not getting much here, too understated
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body, smooth texture. Finish - soft mellow roast malt, hint of chocolate, not much of a finish
Overall - It’s really smooth but it’s too understated to be honest - still above average beer
