Poured from a 22 oz bottle, #1179. Aroma has moderately strong chocolate and roast notes. Some light tobacco, leather and ash. Hints of honey, dark fruit and sherry. Light bourbon and oak notes. Hints of alcohol. Pours black with a medium sized, thick, creamy, dark mocha head that exhibits decent retention as it recedes. Light lacing and medium length legs. Flavor is similar to the aroma with quite a bit of chocolate and some lighter roast notes. Moderate sweetness with some light tobacco and leather notes. Light honey notes with faint dark fruit and sherry. Light oak and bourbon with a bit of alcohol spice. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied and slightly creamy with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, this has aged really well and is only showing faint signs of oxidation. Great malt notes with a pretty nice mouthfeel. Bourbon and oak notes have faded a bit, but its still really nice.

Bottle @ FiftyFifty Eclipse Charity Tasting. Opaque black color, average to medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, bourbon and whiskey influences clearly, light vanilla and slightly alcohol. Taste malts, dark sweet raisins, bourbon, dark malts, slight sweetness, some alcohol and malt bitter mixed perfectly with the sweet bourbon. Soft velvety texture, medium to full body, soft carbonation. Delicious!

From the March 2014 Pittsburgh Ratebeer gathering. +++ Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was chocolate, vanilla, toasty malts, a bit of alcohol and bread dough. The flavor was bourbon, port wine, chocolate syrup, vanilla and anise with a very hot boozy presence that worked well. Long finish of bourbon, chocolate syrup, vanilla and anise. Full bodied and silky. Outstanding.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention. Aroma of black chocolates notes with some rye whiskey notes also clearly identifiable. Taste is a very enjoyable mix of rye whiskey notes with light woody features with some rich black chocolate notes and some warming alcohol notes. Body is quite full with an oily creamy texture. Very nice barrel-aged stout with a good balance between the different flavours.
