Dark brown. Aroma is floral/citrusy bright hops with a decent amount of roast. Rich woody/citrus hop bitterness and toasty hop. Right in line w the style, good, balanced and flavoursome.

From a 330ml bottle on 20/12/2013. Should be taken off the retired list as this one was bottled on 18/3/2013 (ie. it looks like an annual). Pours the darkest of amber with a huge foamy head (bottle gushed on opening). Has a moderate aroma featuring chocolate malt and fruity hops. Tastes of choc and caramel malt with some firm, slightly grapefruity hops following. Has a slightly creamy texture and lively carbonation. Exhibits fantastic balance and goes down super easy for 6.6%. a really good black IPA, which isn’t a surprise given Mikkeller is involved.

Opaque black beer, good pale tan head. Smooth palate, very light. Mild fine carbonation. Smooth light milky dark malt, no roast or bitterness, just very light. Whisper of coffee and chocolate. Mild minerals. Not much else here but the dark malt is marvellously smooth and the beer is very drinkable.

330ml bottle. Pours black in colour with a thick tan head leaving some lacing and aroma of roasted malt, coffee plus grapefruit hop. Taste is initially sweetish dark malt, roasted, smokey, coffee, followed by chocolate, raisins and fruity citrus grapefruit & pine hop bitterness. Nicely smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, clean finish with some lingering chocolate notes. Well balanced, very drinkable black IPA.

A dark, oozy beer with its creamy, brown head gives off a heap of flavours including coffee, liquorice, sea water, orange peel, resin, grain and dirty socks. The hops are far more prominent in the mouth before giving way to coffee, smoke and cream (squealer from Prince Wine Store).

33 cl bottle @ Timo A, bottled 30.03.2012, BBE 05/2013
Aroma has vanilla, nettles, fruity hops, roasted notes and coffee. Flavour is hoppy with gooseberry bush, nettles, some fruity notes, hints of ash and coffee. Foamy palate is a bit too high on CO2.

Bottle. Clear black with a small tan head. Aroma and taste of licorice, some "medicine", light notes of hops, citrus and malt. Drinkable but not that interesting.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Yoav. Dark brown. Aroma has a bit of chocolate and roastiness and nice fruity hops. Flavor has some roastiness, light sweetness, chocolate and nice pleasant fruity hops with mild bitterness. Medium-bodied. Nice, balanced and quaffable.

Bottle. Pours black witha off white head. Licorice and citrus notes in the aroam. Crisp and hoppy at first. Then the dark malts and licorice takes over. Small herbalness in the aftertaste. This ones more about the hops and less about the malts (compared to other Black IPAs).
