Tap at Craft Beer Bar Yokohama. Dark brown, golden head. Aroma is roasty bit chocolate, coriander herbal, quite sweet. Taste is nice, herby, perfumey, nice roast, like a weird black ipa. Floral, and pretty nice.

2016 re-rate: Tap at Gremlin. Big roasted malt aromas with some dark roasted coffee in the background. Medium body, but a little thinner than I remember it seems. Roasted, bitter finish that is borderline astringent. Seems to have gotten more one-dimensional that it was a few years back. On tap at Beer Bar North Island. Served in a half pint shaker. Coffee black with a minimal off-white head. Wonderful lacing the whole way down the glass. Corriander, nutmeg and coffee notes on the nose. Toasted malts, and charred vegetable comes out as well. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Complex finish with hints of sweetness along with the aforementioned bitterness. A very unique beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of North Island Coriander Black on 30 Mar 2015 at 15:00 - Score: 8

Draft - A bit herbal, coffee and some roast malts. Pitch black with a thin brown head. Dark malts and a vegetal herbal quality, coriander? Not sure, as I know i am looking for it and not sure what I am getting along with the roast. It is a vegetal bitterness though which I don’t thin overall make for a good beer.

On tap at the North Island Brewpub in Sapporo (and I had a bottle later on at home). It poured a great dark black with a good inch of tan foam. The aroma had the coriander front and center and the flavor started with the spice and ended with a roast coffee flavor. Excellent! Probably one of the best stouts I’ve had in Japan and also a fairly innovative beer, kudos!

Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012, London. Pours brown with a small, off-white head. Dark malt nose with some grapes and herbs. Light sweet flavor with some tang and dirt. Light boided with soft, fine carbonation. Light sweet finish with further tang and some misplaced spices. Not great, really.
