don’t let the style fool you. It is a fantastic vienna style lager. Clean crisp amber, red and brilliantly clear. Malt forward and creamy. Bitterness would be a bit better subdued a bit. D&S Dresden

Pours amber to light red from the bottle. A frothy tan head slowly subsides. A quite malty nose full of bread and caramel. Taste is sweet with light apple candy undertones. Dry at the end with a very mild bitterness. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. Pleasant.

On tap, 0.5 litre on 6th Aug 2018. In the biergarten of an Indian Restaurant in Gommern, surrounded by Peacocks. All a bit surreal I suppose. Anyway the beer came in a mug like glass, heavy handled thing, and it looked good; clear and clean mahogany red in colour, beige head on top. Fairly sweet stuff, with some caramel and fruity esters in the nose; taste also malty molasses to the fore. My sweet tooth liked it.

On tap at Der Blauer Engel, Kiel, as Mück's Matrosenbier (an alias used only at this pub). Amber colour, white head. Malty and grainy aroma, a hint of wort. Malty flavour, a touch of caramel and lightly roasted malts. Very moderate hops. Smooth to drink, fair enough.
