Sample @ the Sour & Bitter event in Copenhagen. Pours slightly hazy dark red with a creamy offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace. Smell is sweet and malty with bread, dill, wood, orange peal and wet soil. Taste is sweet, bitter and tiny sour with wood, dill, bread, orange peal, caramel, pine and resin. Mouthfeel is sticky sweet, oily bitter and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter with bread, pine and grass.

tap at sour&bitter, clear brown , small offwhite head. aroma is strong hoopy, strong malty , great balanced dipa or bw style aroma. flavor is malty bitter, hoppy bitter, barley wine style. Very good.

Tap at PP Carlsbad. It pours deep amber-brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is pine, resin, leather, fig, raisin, plum, grapefruit and tangerine. The taste is resin, pine, leaf, wood, leather, caramel, dust, fig, currant and raisin, with a bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good balance. Very drinkable for the percentage.

Draft at GABF 2009. Nose of floral and light pine and some caramel. Clear amber with a small off white head. Flavor is light bitterness, caramel, and a pine note.

growler pours deep mahogany with a medium off white head. Aroma is earthy spice, cedar, cinnamon, peppercorns and some sweet bready malts. Flavor is a bland mix of doughy malts, bittersweet nutty character and a hot finish of spice and booze.

RBWG’10 pours reddish, white head. Aroma is hoppy with nice citrus fruits and pine tree and a faint touch of malts. Flavors, definitely has this nice bitter citrus West coast hops flavors, Lots of citrus in this one. Malt profile is there though not overly present, add a nice touch f caramel and roast. Finish has lingering bitter grapefruit and other citrus goodness.

RBWG@RLRL-growler– pours a thin white head and murky amber color. Aroma is pine/resin/some grapefruit, some light/medium malt. Taste is pine/resin/grapefruit zest hops bite, some medium malt. OK effervescence. Occasional.

On tap at Carlsbad. Pours with a tan head and an amber body. Aroma of a salad of hops, and citrus all over. Taste is hops, caramel, earth/dirt and grain. Light bubbles, and hides the alcohol really well. Great stuff.

Draft @ Ørsted Ølbar, Copenhagen. Pours a dark ruby color with a longlasting creamy off-white head. Has a malty hoppy pine needles and grapefruit aroma. Sweetish malty hoppy bitter grapefruit flavor with some hints of pine needles. Has a dry malty hoppy bitter grapefruit finish with a long bitter aftertaste.

(11/3/08) Dra.5ht sample at the brewpub in Carlsbad. 9.5%. Ruby-colored. Aroma of toasted malt and lots of piney hops. A bitter and quite alcoholic flavor with hops, pine, some caramel and cookie notes. Medium-full body.
