Bottle at a ChrisO Tasting - London. Pours clear gold with a fine, white film head. Toasty bready malt nose, some leaves, faint caramel. Very decent flavor, lightly fruity with citrys and berries, mild leafy bitterness, toasted malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good balance to finish, some woody-leafy bitterness, very faint caramel. Alright.

26th September 2012 at home: 500ml bottle conditioned, poured slowly into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged vase shaped pint glass. Very lively (the bottle claimed best before Dec 12): huge body-less glass of foam filled the vase. I allowed the foam to settle and found about a third of a pint of beer had left the bottle. Light amber was the bodies colour the head an off-white mountainus covering. The smells were of a fruit pie made with shortcrust paistry that had just turned (off and musty): add some yeastiness and iron ore rust, strange yet compelling aroma. Drop the iron ore from the nose and the taste follows the aromas: off fruit pie and some yeast. I had to have a packet of crisps to help me finish this beer: not a good sign. The second and third pours brought the sediment up with them and the body obviously became cloudy; it also made the beer more yeasty and fruitier, the fruit being semi-sour and moving towards vinegarous. I tried to enjoy this brew and have marked it asIi saw it, should have been better!

Hazy gold amber beer, big frothy white head. A little sherbet orange on the nose and a light trace of sulphur. The frothy head imparts a little nuttyness as well as orange sherbet. Semi dry palate - quite airy. A little zesty orange with just a hint of sulphurous funk which amazingly does not detract. A little chalk in the background. Finishes dry. Off the beaten track and quite drinkable.

Bottle 500ml.Clear medium orange yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, fruity - berry - ???, floral - vegetable, leather notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, fruity ?? maybe honey, earthy fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120502]

Bottled. Ambery golden colour with a mediumsied white foamy head. Leaves some lace. Aroma is fruity, caramelly and floral with some notes of nectar. Flavour is fruits, floral notes, mild nectar as well as some mild bready notes. Mild berryish notes as well.

Cask, gravity dispensed, at the Carlton Arms, Cambridge - the clip said Humpty Dumpty Best Bitter - ABV 4.1% Amber with a thin white head; English hop aroma; chewy orange malt flavour; sharply bitter finish with a touch of citrus. An excellent bitter.

Bottled. Deep golden with rich head. Rich fuggle aroma. Dry and hoppy, medium bodied with aromatic bitter finish.
