Sample at Kurtkeller 022: Pumpkin-tastic 03 on 10/31/2015. Pours an opaque ruby-brown color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, vine fruits, spice and malt. Medium body with flavors of vinous oak, pumpkin spice, toasted malt and bourbon. The finish is moderately tart with an oaky and spicy aftertaste. Good beer all around.

375mL bottle, brewed July 2015, drunk 11/6/15.
Interesting mahogany brown with lighter amber/auburn tints on the edges. Beige head is medium-sized and fully recedes to cover/nothing. High clarity.
Big mix of brett and lactic character right off the bat and it’s followed by very well-done bourbon notes adding spice, light toffee and a bit of warmth. Black pepper, vanilla, toffee and some citrus all seem odd in conjunction with brett and bourbon but the bourbon is done so well here that it’s hard to not be charmed. Some light sharpness, with warming, but not boozey.
Brett, bourbon, pumpkin, vanilla, toffee....it’s all there in the flavor. Bourbon is one of my least favorite spirits to use in beer, on account of it almost always being very overdone. Here it’s nearly perfect. Spicy, lightly sticky and with a touch of sweetness, it’s noted and then leaves the rest of the beer room to maneuver. Pumpkin flavor is similar, not being dominant in the least, with brett and lacto adding a strong acidity. Still, the base beer balances, or nearly balances it, with obvious strong malt character and light chewiness to the body. A bit too much acetic character lending some sharpness and heavy sourness, but I’m pretty floored by the pumpkin/bourbon/brett interplay. I want more of this stuff for Thanksgiving...

Mahogany color. Off white head color. Funky sour nose with oak, vanilla, sour cherries and pumpkin pie spice in the background. Very tart vinous mouth that is majorly sour with a lingering vanilla oaky, pumpkin finish. Really nice
