12.68 oz bottle. Aroma is bretty, dusty basement, lemon, vinegar, brown sugar, pumpkin flesh, molasses, cola. Pours dark dark brown with a medium tan head that falls after a minute. Taste is highly sour and acidic, woody, vinegar and lemon, with a vague sense of squashyness courtesy of our favorite orange fruit. No, I’m not talking about your wife’s weird vag, Bob. Mouthfeel a touch too foamy for me, body is medium. A bit too woody for my tastes, but this is still pretty good. Not quite lip-smacking good, though. Get your mind out of the gutter, Bob.

Draft. Blackish beer with a dark tan head. Sour aroma. Sour and light spice flavor with light vegetal notes. Medium bodied. Sourness and spice lingers with light acetic notes and light malt.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Brought to and shared at a tasting. Pours an oily black with a small tan head. Slightly sour nose with chocolate, bourbon and light pumpkin noticeable. Lots of red wine and oak on the palate that kind of overwhelms what was on the nose. Weird finish with a rush of cinnamon, cardamom and nutmeg. Really unbalanced. Probably blended after splitting the batch between the wine and Woodford barrels. Messy, but still enjoyable. Not really very sour.

375 ml bottle shared by AdamC, oh boy.. Ok. Dark brown black, thin white head. Aroma does NOT make me hopeful. Bad red wine, spices, vinegar...

The flavor is nearly all vinegar. No seriously... Vinegar with some pumpkin spice. The barrel is all red wine vinegar. Cabernet wine hints. Huge pucker character that ends dry. I get no bourbon from this... No thanks. People really like this??

Dark brown to black. 1 finger brown head. The fill line on this bottle was pretty bad. 3-4 ounces missing. smells like chocolate vinegar with spices. well, it’s sour. Very acidic, vinegar, heartburn inducing with a lot of spice and bourbon. I don’t get wine barrel really. oily and thin.

On draft at Caps & Taps. It pours a dark brown color with a tan head. The aroma has some very mild spices and tart cherry-like acid. Mild char. The flavor is massively sour with tons of lactic acid, sour cherries and a little wood. Hints of cinnamon. Super large pucker on this one. Mouthwatering. Slight astringency on the palate. It gets better and more interesting as it warms with more of the malt complexity coming out to serve as a backdrop for the intense acid. Kinda hard to drink much of this, but it’s a pretty fun beer. I loved the fact that they kept the spices low. Noticeable, but low. Well done.

375 mL bottle purchased at Special Brews. Pours a near black with a quick fizz away head. I’d say the pumpkin sour pours darker than the dark pumpkin sour did last year. Soft bourbon and sour dark fruit aroma. Flavor is a ton of sour fruit, spice, and the expected pumpkin, though the pumpkin is less than a headliner. Extremely tart up front and sour through a lingering palate. Really a lot going on here. Complex sour for sure. Something about this one leaves me wanting a whole lot more of it. Not much has changed here. Almanac is awesome. Have I mentioned a thousand times yet that you guys need to open a brewpub?!? Solid beer.
