Bottle from Taniguchi. Cola brown/virtually black with a fizzy beige head and a tart fruity red wine, madeira, cocoa, nutmeg, hazelnut and other hidden spices. Light bodied, raspy and very dry it’s acidic, winey, chocolate fudge, a touch of oak. The bourbon didn’t come out to play until paired with the Haggen Daaz pumpkin ice cream’s creamy nutty gourdy goodness. More tart wine characteristics (oud bruin like) than brown ale bourbon notes come out but it’s still a great twist on the pumpkin ale style. If you want to get them along with vanilla flavors give it enough time to warm up.

375 ml. bottle. Blackish extremely dark brown red. Zero head, head fizzes away instantly in the fashion of a soft drink, you see some bubbles rise to the surface afterwards. Nose is hugely vinous coffee, bay leaf, sour spices, very vinous with some sweet cherry. Beer is pretty much flat. Taste is comparable to an Oud Bruin. Sour vinous Cherry Coca-Cola, sour cherries, vanilla, spices, hugely vinous, sour lingering acidity, red wine vinegar, sweetish cherries, spices, tobacco, vinegar chocolate. Interesting acidic Oud Bruin, lots of sour wine combined with sweet bourbon notes, vanilla, cherries. Very nice & interesting. Interesting sweet & sour brew. Works really nice, lack of carbonation is not an issue. Not getting pumpkin here which is what I expected but I got something good & very interesting instead so this is good as well.

Bottle from CBB. Poured into Champagne flutes with chocolate on the side. Spicy, acidic, pumpkin, cinnamon, lactic, touch of acetic acid, caramel, chocolate. Huge, impressive nose. Black with a high, fizzy head that quickly goes flat. Quite sour, spicy, chocolate, vanilla yogurt, cherries, has a decent Flanders red thing going too. Very nice. Well balanced, not too much spice, great.
