A strong smooth and dry premium blonde beer. Fistral is light in colour, brewed using lager malt and quite a large proportion of wheat malt, giving it a clear crisp character. The late addition of Hallertauer Mittlefruh hops gives the herbal aroma, combining well with the citrus of First Gold.

Bottle courtsey of Craigs sisters at Cropredy Fairport Conventions Annual Reunion August 2013 consumed at home Sunday 8th September 2013 Pours gold, clear as a bell, slim white head. Dusty hops dominate, I find this a bit fusty and despite the declaration that this is bottle conditioned it feels like there is a pasteurised boiled sweetness about it, however clearly I am wrong however my bottle mentions nothing about being bottle conditioned. Despite my initial criticism it does get a little better, but still a bit too much like licking dusty old furniture which I tend to do so can happily state with supreme confidence. Not great! Bottled. Amber with a slight, off-white head. Hedgerow fruits, some earthy malts and a touch of leafy hop, before a decent, bitter finish. Fine.

(Cask at Duke’s Brew & Cue, Haggerston, London, 25 Apr 2013) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of peaches, doughey malt and citrus. Malty, fruity taste with peaches, citrus, white bread and a gentle, citric bitterness. Medium body, with a certain sweetness. Enjoyable, but hardly exciting.
