This was a live review: I am in my hotel room on the Belgian coast. The wife is dead on her feet, so we stopped at a ’Night Store’ for me to have a night-cap beer. The only beer they sold that I hadn’t reviewed was this one. Can’t believe I’m reviewing an Irish beer in Belgium! 33cl Brown bottle, best before 29 Jan 2012, reviewed in Middelkerke on 26 May 2011. Poured into a glass tumbler, because that is what was available in the hotel room. It’s a Guinness, so it’s dark with a huge tanned head: the smell is of a regular Guinness with alcohol added. Even the head (which refuses to shrink) tastes like an alcoholic infused normal Guinness. Dry and malty taste, the alcohol detected in the aroma is hidden better within the mouth flavours, but appears somewhat in the aftertaste as the mouth drys; and as already mentioned, in the foaming head. Not as well balanced as I expected and not a beer I’d search for, certainly not in Belgium: where there are so many great beers to try.

33cl bottle, 8%, 1.90€. Very dark brown, almost black beer with a massive rocky tanned head, lasting. Nose of toasted cereals and chocolate. Aroma is as expected, roasted malts allover, coffee and dark chocolate. Has some sweetness in the beginning but become strongly bitter instantly. Intense bitter finish. Texture is creamy to oily, body medium to full, average carbonation. It’s quite sharp but nice product.

33 cl. bottle @ home. Dark brown with a tan head. Coffee and chocolate in the aroma. A lot more flavourful than the draught version. I found that one a dissapointment and this one a very enjoyable beer.

Bottle. Slightly bitter roasted brain aromaPours dark brown to black with a big creamy lacing golden brown head. Demera sugar, caramel and roasted barley, herbal hops. Roast and chocolate aftertaste. Full, slightly sticky on the palate, delicate carbonation prevents it from being cloying.

0.33l bottle from CrackedKettle. This one pours pretty darn close to a black body with a nice light creamy strongly tanned head. Aroma is quite sweet with some roasted malts, vanilla-chocolate, some thin coffee and lots of caramel! Not your average Guinness this no... It has a really creamy and oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation and it's medium to full-bodied. Good roasted flavors, lots of that sweet caramel, a really different and exciting flavor that I have a hard time figuring out what is. Almost like its some flowers mixed with dry cardboard (in a good way) I know I have tasted this is another stout, but just cant figure out what it is (reminds me a bit of Midtfyns Stout). Really smooth and it finishes off light warming and it ends with a long lasting coffee and slightly sweet chocolate aftertaste. Soooo much better than the dry nitro stout. 8-4-8-4-17
Shared 0.33l bottle @ Hotel room in Amsterdam with Inbreak. Pre borefts breakfast. Lovely looking massive and Lingering creamy brown head that's leaving some egregious lacings down the glass as it slowly fades. Smells of both chocolate and light burned malts. A faint creamy lactic acidity is also noted here, but I like this aroma. It's thick and really oily in the mouth but it lacks some carbonation. What's there is almost completely gone as the head has settled. Creamy nesquick, lots of chocolate and roasted notes. So much better than the thin regulare version. Solid! 27.09.2013

Maybe it’s an insult to guinness lovers, but I liked this beer a lot better than the original. The alcoholpercentage and carbonation give this beer a good body. Taste is ok, smell and appearance not bad.

I liked this one a bit better than the regular guinness. This version has a bit more taste to it (chocolate, roasted malts, coffee). Still not my favorite. Mouthfeel is way better. Less watery and more alive.
