Hand bottle at Pat’s Birthday Tasting, London, thanks to Ian. Pours clear garnet with a white foam head. Rich malts aroma, some toffee. Very sweet flavor with cake-like bread, caramel, sugar syrup. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Sticky and lightly warming on the finish, with toasty sugars, more caramel, some boozy fruits. Very, very good. It’s a very sweet beer, but for the style that’s how it goes. Wonderful depth here.

Hand bottle, thanks to Ian. It pours deep red-brown, with a thin beige film. The nose is sweet fig, prune, currant, vanilla, TCP and a hint of glue. The taste is raisin, currant, vanilla, whisky, toffee and alcohol warmth in the finish. Medium body, low carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. A bit cloying, but tasty stuff.

Cask handpull at The Foundry Canterbury. Aged wee heavy 7.9% really deep amber colour lots of lychee and raspberry on aroma strawberry jam. Warming strong in mouth and then this whisky dryness on the finish. I am in awe. One of the best kent beers for a long time. Good hops too. Whisky finish 4.2
