Hiver was born out of an admiration for London’s urban beekeepers and a passion for craft beer. We use urban and rural honey to create an all-British blonde beer that’s long matured and unpasteurised. We tone down the hops and support the natural honey flavours with a speciality organic malt. Bottle at home. Picked up from M&S. Clear golden yellow coloured pour with a lasting fine white head that fades. Aroma is light grains,straw, floral honey, grain husks, faint citrus in the background. Flavour is composed of sweet honey, honey monster cereal, light cereal grains, earthy honey notes, straw. Palate is quite sweet, sugary, highish carbonation, semi-drying in the finish. Better than i had thought. Pretty good honey character.

Bottle from The Railyway, Streatham, London (on the buy one get one free night) - golden fuzzy pour with white head. Aroma and taste is overtly sweet with honey and fruits, some light pale sweet malts, not for me.

Bottle from Beets. Appearance - golden with a proportionate head. Nose - dominated by honey. Just some pale malt coming through other than that. Taste - again honey and pale malt. Palate - close to medium bodied with a tangy yet sweet texture and the finish lacks refreshment. Overall - it’s probably a well made beer but when one ingredient dominates as much as that, it renders it one dimensional.

Bottle from Ocado Online Supermarket. Golden-blond with a very small head. The honey is the dominant character for the ale, but light enough so it’s both enjoyable and not overbearing. A sweet accompaniment for food is probably the best way to enjoy this beer.

330ml bottle. Clear golden colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, virginal white head. Grainy aroma with a touch of honey, some straw, grassy hop. Taste is strawy, minimally grainy, pale malty, very subtle sweetness; light body, watery. Expressionless.

33 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is mild honey, slight herbal and light toasted malt. Sweet, toasted malty and lingering honey. Light fruity. Smooth malty and honey finish.

Bottle from some place in Canterbury. Bit of puke on the aroma. It’s basically not a very good beer. In fact it’s rubbish. Struggling to think of one thing I like. Some honey and hop on the finish. Eeeek. Not good.

Bottle at the Old Red Cow, London on 21 September 2013. Poured a super pale colder colour with a thin white head which rapidly disappeared completely. Strong aroma of waxy honey, caramel and berries. Flavour like someone diluted a lot of honeycomb in water, also some soft fruits. Light bitterness on the palate, but honestly in faded into almost nothingness. Odd beer, but probably the strongest honey flavoured one I have ever tried.
