Hiver was born out of an admiration for London’s urban beekeepers and a passion for craft beer. We use urban and rural honey to create an all-British blonde beer that’s long matured and unpasteurised. We tone down the hops and support the natural honey flavours with a speciality organic malt. 500ml bottle from Producers’ Stall at NEC 2016 - Pale gold body, no head. Nose is as expected honey, with a weird artificial sweetener thing going on. Taste is dry, bit of malt, but over ridden by honey. No.

Sample. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of floral honey, light fruits and malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Smell of malt, honey. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma of honey, grain, malt, some rubber. A lot of honey in finish. Sweet, plentiful carbon. Light body.

Bottle from the brewer’s own stand at the Good Food Show at Birmingham NEC. A sparkling gold beer. Taste and smell dominated by set honey with floral hints. The ale behind offers little more than a mild bitterness at the finish. As I often find with honey beers, the honey and beer don’t necessarily go very well together, but it’s rather nice honey here and the beer plays such a minor role that they almost get away with it.

Bottle from Greendale Farm near Exeter. Golden with a small head. Nice honey aroma and flavour throughout, with a good hoppy touch to balance it.

330ml bottle. Clear pale yellow piss colour, with a small white diminishing head. Aroma of honey, some pale malt, a little citrus. Flavour is very sweet from the honey, but quite refreshing, also light hops and malt. The sweetness means I wouldn’t want too many, but it is nice.

Bottle courtesy of Mum and Dad, consumed at home Friday 22nd January 2016 Great aroma, massively honey, lots and lots of wonderful raw honey, sadly the flavour doesn’t live up to the wonderful aroma. Sweet, a little fruity, the honey is fine but a little watery. A8 A4 T5 P3 Ov12 3.2

Flaske i baren i OXO Tower, London: klar, lys gylden med fint skum som varer. Aroma og smak av honning, lys malt, blomster. Forholdsvis søt, men karboneringen frisker opp, og den har en halvtørr avslutning. En god aperitif før vi gikk inn i brasseriet.
