Keg at Craft. Dark red/brown colour, almost black but not quite. Small beige head. Aroma is weird. Bit skunky, bit coffee, bit stinky hops (b.o.). Taste is quite smooth, roasted malt, milky coffee. Bitter stinky finish. Strange one, couldn't really get a grip on it.

On tap at Craft Beer. Clear brown beer, little tan head. Light softish palate, a little dry. Really sweet Black IPA. Peach and apricot dominate a little dark malt that is really only noticeable in the semi dry finish. Interesting and pretty drinkable. Again small tweaks could make this a fine beer!

Keg at CPK, London. Pours dark, black-brown with a foamy, light tan head. Has a lovely roasted malt aroma with hints of cocoa, blended with reinous pine. Flavor is decent, if slightly awkward. I am struck by a dominant character of burnt bacon. Other than that, there’s some charcoal, peat, pine, fatty chocolate and pork rinds. Medium bodied with huge, excessive, mouth-filling carbonation. Hard to pinpoint what I get on the finish. Some burnt grass, roasted malts, singed pine, some meat. Not everything I had hoped it would be.

Keg at Craft Beer Co. It pours very dark brown, with a long-lasting beige head. The nose is roasted malt, smoke, sweet tangerine, liquorice and chocolate malt. The taste is tangy citrus, roasted malt, chocolate, pine, cardboard and some metal, with a dry-roasted finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and foamy mouth-feel. Ok, but a bit unbalanced.

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed 21.10.11 Craig brought this beer along, cheers Craig! Pours dark brown with a light beige head. This is really quite hoppy from the off. The hops real shine, though I have to say after a while I am finding them just a tad harsh and most unusually I would welcome a little more sweetness in this to soften things out a bit. Touch soapy at times, but it really is about the hops and they dominate. A7 A4 T6 P3 Ov13 3.3

Bottle at home ... thin tan lacing ... soft dark roast malt ... light floral pine hop ... hint of chocolate nose ... little over fizzy ... very mellow soft flavours ... blackcurrant and chocolate malts ... big soft floral hop ... this is fairly different from other black ipa... that sterotypical flavour is there in the background ... but there lighter almost fluffier flavours up front Bottle at fins ...deep black...thin tan lacing...litle soapy floral pine hop... big passion fruit nose ... melow toffee malts ... soft mellow hop... soft pine ...soft blackcurrant ... light dry finish 3.8
