New for 2011, this Imperial IPA’s full malt body is elevated by the loads of hop flavor and bitterness. Copious amounts of Citra, Chinook, Columbus, Cascade and Centennial hops are used to give this beer a wonderful aroma of orange zest and lemon. This fruitiness from the hops is complimented by a nice caramel biscuit malt flavor from the pale and crystal malts and finishes balanced with a slight hop kick. This beer was dry hopped for your enjoyment. Available in 22oz Bottles and Draught ABV 7.5% IBUs: 80

3rd December 2011
ChrisOs Early December Tasting. Clear gold beer, good off white head. Light palate, semi dry. Nice hops, full on but not aggressive. Marmalade citrus - orange, tangerine. Floral notes. Nice bitterness, not too much. Semi dry finish with a little aniseed alcohol and bitter marmalade. Nice.

Bottle: Light bronze color with a modest, creamy sand colored head. Mostly florals in the aroma with light citrus. Tastes dry and earthy; grassey, florals, and seemingly bits of rye prior to a heavy malt backbone. Dry and just short of what I’d consider a ’rough’ finish. Ok, but not really what I like in an IPA.

Bottle at Pat’s chriso birthday tasting. Pours clear amber with a medium, white head. Some tangy citrus, pine and orange in the aroma. Medium sweet flavor with toasty malts, light caramel, grass, pine, and light citrus. Medium to full in body with fine to average carbonation. Lasting bitter finish with moderate warmth. Notes of toasty malts, pine, ripe citrus. Not bad. Understated. Solid DIPA.

Nice crisp hazy orange coloured body with a glow of copper and a thin off-white head. Aroma of strong hops, resin, a touch of grapefruit, and a decent amount of alcohol. Medium to Full-bodied; Harsh alcohol and herbal woodsy hop bite with a lot of drying flavour noticeable, but a strong show of offensive bitterness - not pleasant. Aftertaste shows some citrus and slight earthy hop notes, but the strong alcohol flavour is the strongest and the bitterness remains high. Overall, not a great imperial ipa, but good hops and a nice body - just showing too much alcohol and a bit too much bitterness. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria, Virginia for US$4.99 on 09-October-2011 sampled at home in Washington on 07-December-2011.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear orange copper with a small off white head diminishing quickly to nothing. The aroma is a floral hop and pine. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet hop and caramel with a nice light bitter finish. A very good IIPA from Full Sail.
