The taste of grain has always been a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. We took the convention one step further, milling fine porridge oats right here in the brewery.

The result is an ale with the flavour of gentle hops, a creamy head and just the right amount of bitterness.

From cask at Castle Tavern. Very clear pale amber. Not much head. Subdued aroma of caramel. Neutral taste with some caramel. Moderate bitterness in shory aftertaste. Drinkable, but nothing special.

Cask at local pub in lovely village of Plockton nr Skye. Amber looks with a small white head. Gentle malt and hop notes in the nose. Flavour was similar with some notes of yeast and grain. Fairly reserved bitterness. Drinkable and seemed fresh but on the whole unspectacular. Didn’t really pick up on the Porridge factor !

Bottle. Nose is cereal, slight straw, worrying hint of egg. Taste, cereal, banana and an unpleasant sweetness I can’t place. No finish. Mouthfeel is thin. A nothing beer which is best avoided.

Bottle @ the Claymore Restaurant, Broadford, Isle of Skye. Pours golden, with a decent head. The nose has lemon and pale malt. The taste has more of the same, also some honey. The palate is light to medium bodied and very refreshing. Overall a very good session beer, if nothing special beyond that.

Bottle on the train to Edinburgh, cheers to Parrot for the pour - 08/12/12. Pale blonde with a thin white head that clears to the edge and a thin film. Nose is pale malt, oats, light fruit, yeast esters. Taste follows nose, light citrus tones, hint of caramel. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bitter finish. File under ’W’ !

Bottle. Pours deep golden with a white head. A bit bland and anonymous. Quite light body. Fruity and malty with a light bitterness. Ok, but quite forgettable. (Backlog: Tasted at Øl & Mat ’09)

Cask @ JDW Elgin
Golden yellow....clear...white head...reasonable lacing
Aroma - sweet light malts..slight metallic smell
Taste - sweet malts..sour..some vegetal notes..bitter bit metallic hops...bit of honey...bit of creaminess....flavour way below average - not good at all
Palate - soft carb...smooth texture. Finish as main flavour...lingering metallic bitterness
The only good thing about this beer is it’s appearance. Didn’t finish my 1/2 pint. I just didn’t like it at all.

Bottle. A golden coloured pour with a medium white head. Vinegar like aroma. Tastes sour, vinegar, some malt. I couldn’t finish this, maybe it was infected or something. Horrible indeed.

Flaske 0,5 l. Gave fra Rune. Takker. Lys gylden på farge. Litt uklart. OK kremaktig skum. Sterk fruktig aroma. Syrlig fruktig smak: Rosiner og svisker. Litt uvariert smaksbilde. Litt vassen. Forsiktig bitterhet langt uti ettersmaken.
