From the barrel room comes this oak aged specialty release. Every so often we receive French Oak barrels that previously held red wine. If our brewers have extra time (and beer) they have been known to age some of our Lost and Found Abbey Ale in these barrels.

Bottle with more thanks and love to gorditoabd. Body is the color of a tarnished penny, with a fizzy sound and little head. Aromas are tart (for whatever reason, I didn’t expect that... now it seems stupid, but I was not thinking sour.) Kind of a sour apple bliss-fest. Flavor is very nice... lots of pie cherries and green apples with a bit of caramel. I’m not quite sure what it is, but somewhere mid-palate there’s kind of a penny-in-the-mouth flavor. It’s quick to leave, but it is my only complaint. Mouthfeel is pretty light and there is lots of fizzy carbonation to keep it lively.

Bottle from Toronado shared by Marcus. Brown quad like appearance with a creamy tan head. Aroma is darker malt and light seeded fruit. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Mildly sour, oaky, seems to have a touch of apple. Finish is dry and woody, finishing to a light sweetnesss. Continuously astringent.

Bottle at Chris_o birthday bash 08. Belgian style beer with a bit of sourness. Some pretty good wine fruit/red fruits. Lemon sourness, but sweet red fruits as well. Good.

On tap served by Tomme. Pours a hazy brown color with hardly any head in my glass (I think they were messing around with nitrogen/CO2 levels on the tap). Aroma is amazingly rich with cabernet spiciness, raspberries, figs and vanilla. Taste is strongly rich but spicy wine with some light hints of a Belgian Dubbel added by way of fruits, persimmons, and some bananas. That said taste is mainly wine and some oxidation. Light effervescence, and a thick mouthfeel.

Muddy red-brown colour. Dar fruit and light alcohol. Fairly vinous woody character. Deep and complex. Fruity with rich raisiny depth and a dry alcohol finish. Complex and delicious.

(Bottle 75 cl) Courtesy of fordest. Slightly hazy amber golden with a creamy, cappuchinoish beige head. Tart, Brettish nose - very vinous. Medium body with vinous sweet’n’sour caramel and lots of dried fruit. Discreet bitterness. What a wonderful complexity. Knowing that this was labelled as an Abeey Dubbel I thought it was infected! But it’s not, it’s just wondefully barrel-aged, and it’s really more resembling a Flemish Sour. Someone please remove that Abbey Dubbel tag - it’s terribly misleading. 190408

Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured a deep clear brown/reddish color ale with nice size foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of light tannic notes with some oak and tart notes. Taste is a mix between a light Belgian Dubbel (lighter then I remembered Lost and Found to be…) with some oak and tannic notes clearly discernable. Somewhat sour and tart but still well balance with the sweet malt form the original beer. Average body with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Well done.
