Cask @ Royal Oak, Halifax. Copper-amber with a thick creamy head. It has berry-sweet malts that give it an identifiably red ale texture and taste. It has a mid-sweetness at best.

Hand pulled pint taken at The Cask Pub and Kitchen, London Nov 2011. Red/Russet body, clear, with an off-white head, full and lasting. No great aromas, some malty caramel hints with a citrus hop element maybe. The taste is an easy blend of semi-sweet malty molasses and grapefruit/citrus flavours from the unknown American hops (Cascade I should think). The malts come to the fore at the initial sip with the hops giving a mildly bitter finish. 5.9% ABV: didn’t feel or taste that strong, so they’ve hidden the alcohol nicely, this is a well made brew, my first from this brewery, hope it’s not the last one I get a chance to try.

Cask at CPK, London. Pours clear russet with a fluffy, off-white head. Big grassy hop aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor, some toast, light caramel, abrasive grass bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Fairly dry finish, faint caramel, grass, dry pine. A bit too heavy on the grass. Too raw, actually.

Cask gravity at Reading BF 2011. Rich clear russet colour with only a few bubbles. Some hops and richness on aroma. Ok in mouth. Slightly sweet. Decent peppery hop on finish.
