Bag-in-a-box at the Shoulder of Mutton, Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Pale yellow and flat. A brief whiff of nail varnish remover fortunately soon vanishes leaving behind sweetish pear juice and just a little pear skin tannin. It's pleasant enough, if a little insipid - it could do with a bit more of that pear skin roughness.

From a glass jar in a fridge at The County Hotel JDW Ashford. Clear pale gold colour no head. Yeast aroma. Then some apple juice in mouth something a bit sharp fleshy apple. Some character no doubt. Some apple skin. Faint tannin gives a little dryness on the gums at the end. In fact that's the best bit. You have to work to get the best out of this cider. But it is there.
