Keg at the Japanese Craft beer tasting at the White Horse. It pours very dark brown, near black, with a thin tan head and soft carbonation. The nose is rice, charcoal, sweaty socks, coffee, liquorice, leather and dark stewed fruit. The taste is rich-roast coffee, charcoal, brown sugar, dark chocolate, toasted sesame seed, with a roasted malt finish. Quite meaty Imperial stout.

On tap at the White Horse. Big thanks to Doug, Jamie and Mark for arranging, facilitating and serving. Cheers Guys! Opaque black beer, residual tan head. Softish semi dry palate with a little prickly carbonation. Really nicely balanced. Dark chocolatey malt, trace of smooth coffee, not bitter. Nice balance of light orange hops. Sumptuos dark chocolate - coffee finish. Minerally freshness throughout. Softish finish with a trace of red fruits. Lovely! Another cracking Japanese beer!

Bottled at pre-RBJG festivities in Kyoto. Black as night, rich beige head. Chocolaty salty nose. Dryish with dense full body. Lots of tobacco and salty licorice, like a dough made up from salmiak. Lingering salty bitterness. Contains all you can ask for in a well made Imperial Stout.
