Black with a ruby-red tint, velvety and full-flavoured Stout. Well balanced and warming, rich and malty dry "Irish-style" Stout has a smooth full flavour, from the addition of flaked oats, with a long bitter finish.
In the 18th Century the Irish (tired of importing Porters and Stouts from Bristol and London) started making their own Stouts. A few hundred years later the Bristol Beer Factory (tired of importing Stout from Ireland) created a tasty blend of 7 malts to rival the most flavoursome beers of this style.

From cask at Euston Tap. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan and creamy head. Aroma is roasted and dark malty, liqourice and dark breadish. Slight bitter to vague acidic. Dark malt and acidic hardroasted finish, light bitterness coming through.

(Cask at Euston Tap, Euston, London, 25 Nov 2010) Black colour with creamy, off-white head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of chocolate, coffee and hints of ashes. Malty, roasted taste with chocolate, cocoa, coffee and hints of ashes. Medium body, quite dry, with a solid coffee bitterness in the finish. Excellent balance, very tasty and so drinkable. Very nice stout.

14th December 2010. At the Euston Tap with Harrisoni. Clear dark brown beer. Nice creamy head, light tan. Remarkably light airy palate, dry. Very mild dark malt with a little tiny bit of fruit in the undertone. Minerally dry finish. Probably the lightest fluffiest stout I’ve had!

Cask air pressure Euston Tap. Black dark brown edges. Lovely juicy roast choc. Very good just there is this odd cardboard hint on the swallow. Good beer though choc full of flavour.

Cask at Euston Tap. Pours ruby-brown with a moderate, creamy beige head. Good roast aroma with cocoa malts. Very faintly sweet flavor but all about tobacco, char and overall roast. Light to medium bodied with fine, smooth carbonation. Finish is roasty, chalky with some mild dryness, minerality and dark malts. Just excellent.

Cask-conditioned at the Grain Barge, Bristol 28/05/09. This is also called "Bristol oatmeal stout", for example at the Reading Beer Festival . Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts and a hint of porridge oats. Easy drinking with more chocolate, some graininess and a dry finish. Ok.
