Bottle as I was waiting for the in-laws to arrive after a long day of driving children around. The name still had connections, well to me at least, with Robert Maxwell, but the quality of this beer soon took my mind in a more positive direction. A classic and flavoursome beer with malt and bitter hops all in a low abv. Just a good bitter.

Cask @ White Lion, Ufford. Hazy mid-brown with a very thin head. It has a slightly sweetened aroma with sugars and fruit, but in taste it's rather bland. Has a lower bitterness.

On cask at Wenlock Arms. Pours a cloudy orange gold with medium white head that lasts. The aroma is biscuit and earth malt. Medium body, wet biscuit, grain, malty, light bitterness, very good.

Reddish brown and clear with a spotty off-white head. Oaky aroma, some venous and almost vinegar notes. Sweetish taste with a light bitter sourness in the long dry finish. More oak in the aftertaste. Soft carbonation. It's that increasingly rare beast: a decent basic bitter.
