Golden beer, tropical fruit and medicinal aroma & slightly sour plummy taste. Very bitter on the palette. Nice enough but not my favourite.

On cask @ the Haymarket Bar, Edinburgh. Light amber in colour with a decent head. The nose has a little bit of apple coming through against a malt background. The taste is similar - fairly basic bitter really but inoffensive. The palate is light to medium in body and texture and the finish is fairly clean. So so!

Cask at The Vaults, Knowle, Solihull. Golden Brown Pour with a big white frothy head and surprisingly little lace. Malty slightly metallic aroma. There’s malt and caramel in the slightly sour flavour with a little liqourice in the aftertaste. Not much bitterness it has to be said, but a very decent refreshing ale, more suited to the summer months.

On cask at the White Hart, Pirbright, Surrey on Xmas Day 2011 (badged as ’Jolly’). Light amber in colour with a thin head and little lacing as I began to drink. Slight citrus and some straw flavours in this beer, bitter with a more bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel very average, a little thin. The kind of pint you’re happy to finish and move on to something different, that said not unpleasant to the extent I’d never have again, it would be low down the list though! Didn’t make me jolly!

Cask at Baxter’s Court, JDW, London. Pours rich gold with a creamy, off-white head. Woody malt nose with faint leaves. Nice flavor, decently balanced with toasty pale malts, some dry wood and dry, toasty grass bitters. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Crisp finish, moderately sweet with some nice, toasted bread, mild woody and lightly grassy bitterness. A solid bitter in general.
