Earl Of Essex. Cask. As ’Session Bitter - 3.8%. Almost clear amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and a little soft. Modest fine carbonation. Smooth malts with very light creamy sweetness. Mild carbonated nip in the mid. Hops present mellow but fresh tasting orange and a whisper of lemon. Light crispy finish. Nice!

Bottled. A hazy amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and straw. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, hay, and elderflowers, leading to a dry finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr/madsberg/Ungstrup. Pours golden with a slight haze and a small, rough off-white head. Smelly feet British hop aroma. Light body, nutty, slightly citrusy hops - fresh alright - and a very bitter finish. Both good and bad. 221012

Brown! in appearance, clear, good lacing
Aroma - soft bitter hops, caramel malts
Taste - Nice bitter hops, caramel malts, hint of toffee, some soft fruity malts, note of red berries, soft bitter roast, lot of flavour for 3.8%
Palate - Bit dry in the finish
Overall - That’s how to make a really good classic English Bitter - excellent - puts most other examples of the style to shame
