Best Maris Otter is blended with Vienna malt to give the beer a reddish hue. Challenger and Bramling Cross hops are used, the latter delivering a distinctive and fruity blackcurrant finish.

Cask at the Claude du Vall (JDW), Camberley. Bright copper in colour with a thin beige head; rich fruity malt aroma; the flavour with malty, dry and earthy, with some winter fruit and raw sugar; there’s a tangy, prolonged finish with some dry grassy hops and a touch of warming spice. Very pleasant.

Cask-conditioned at Colston’s Yard, Bristol 11/12/09. Deep gold in colour with a frothy white head. Aroma of sweet malts, oranges and a touch of citrus hops. Flavour was much the same, with decent cereal malts, apricots and a hoppy, dry finish.
