30/9/2019. Cask at the Crosse Keys, City Of London. Pours dark bronze brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of plum jam, coffee, liquorice, chocolate, roasted malt, tobacco, berries and charcoal ash. Moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Hint of berry tartness. Medium body, slight oily texture, soft carbonation. Dark fruit and increasing berry sour finish. One that grew on me after a while.

Near-opaque brown beer with a thin head. The (light) smell and taste are both malty chocolate with a dash of caramel. A bit lightweight and watery but decent all the same.

Cask at the Prince Arthur (JDW), Fleet. A mahogany pour with a ring of white head; earthy malt aroma; taste of deeply roasted - almost burnt - malts, and raw sugar cane; with a dry finish. Rather good.

Cask pint in The Shrewsbury Hotel, a Wetherspoons, on 26th Jan 2015. Dark body, deep ruby hue to the almost black brew, on top a tanned crown. Malty and sweet from the start, dark berries in the taste along with molasses. Decent.
