Hybrid between a Russian Imperial Stout and Oud Bruin.
Opposites attract. This sweet sour marriage combines the viscosity and robustness of a Russian Imperial Stout with the winy delicacy of our flemish red ale. Tasting this beer is like a Sovjet bombardment on your senses that throws you from Moscow to Modena and back, to find balanced somewhere in the middle. The aroma reveals chocolate, raisins and Syrup de Liège, with a sense of port wine. The thick, sweet start creates the expectations of an antitussive that pampers the throat. The tantalizing sourness when you swallow, though, crushes that expectation immediately, so you have to start all over again. Comrades, unite and drink this oil of brotherhood!

330mL bottle, pours black with a large dark brown head. Nose is loaded with wood, balsamic and darkly roasted malt in wonderful cohesion. Flavour is intense, with an impeccable blend of tart dark fruits, balsamic, and rich roasted malt. Holy crap - what a great blend. I didn't expect this to work very well, even given the average score, but this works beautifully. Rich, robust, intense, a bit hot yet very harmonious. This is wonderful.

330ml bottle from Vanuxeem while watching The Grey. Pours a hazed deep brown. Pickled onion crisps on the nose. Super tangy, sharp, tart in character veering erratically from luscious vinous notes, to a sweet jagged oud bruin tang and smoothed off with some dark malt. An utter lunatic of a beer that comes across 1/2 red wine, 1/4 oud bruin and 1/4 stout, with a mental ABV to boot. Just about got accustomed to it, but not sure I want to re-visit this experience.

8 3 7 3 15 Draft at BXL Beer Fest, Brussels ’17. Black with a ring beige head. Aroma of chocolate, caramel, toffee, fudge and vinegar. Flavour is heavy sweet with above light vinegar acidity. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap at BXL festival. Black with dark beige head. Sweet roasted notes, blackberries, sweet balsamico, toffee, dark chocolate, quite herbal. Over medium sweet, medium bitter and sour. Full bodied. Nice.

@ BXL Beer Fest. Dark brown/black colour, brown foam. Wow, this is a complex stout! Lots of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate along with vinegar tartness, fruity berries, wood and wine. Very well balanced. This is a winner!
