(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 17 Nov 2011) Nutty amber colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, nutty nose with dried fruit and toast. Malty, slightly fruity taste with notes of citrus, orange peel, nuts, dried fruit and a generous earthy bitterness in the finish. Light body, with balanced sweetness. Quite enjoyable.

Cask @ White Lady JDW, Corstophine, Edinburgh [130913]
4.8% version
Caramel brown, clear, dense off white head, good lacing
Aroma of soft caramel, light toffee, touch of dark fruits, light aroma
Taste of caramel malts, soft toffee, very slight smoke, dab of raisin, slight toasted notes, easy going
Palate - Medium body, soft mouthfeel. Finish as main flavour.
Overall - OK - I’m sure this is less malty than when I tried the new 4.8% version last year (didn’t rate it)....might not be in best nick here
Cask @ The King’s Highway, Inverness [110511] 3.8% version 4/3/5/2/10 2.4
Light chestnut (!) amber beer...frothy white head...clear...good lacing.
Very little aroma - bit of malt.
Taste of caramel and a bit of roasted malt....some spicy hop...bit sour
Palate - soft carb, light roast bitter finish with a sour lingering tail..powdery mouthfeel
Hmmm....not one of Cairngorm’s best.

Gravity cask at Pig’s Ear festival, London on 2nd December 2009. Amber with a vanishing white head. Sweetish initial caramel malt aroma; dry sharp grapefruit citric hop and notes of dry hazelnut. A dry, increasingly sharp bitter finish. Quite aggressive flavour contrasts.

Cask at Horniman at Hay’s. Buttery aroma, some diacetyl I think, over a reasonably hoppy bitter. It’s in good nick except for the slight butter. OK bitter.
