Handpull cask at Engineers Arms 2015 Beer Festival, Henlow. Golden brown with plentiful white head. Buttered toast and weedkiller in the aroma. Not balanced or pleasant to smell. Sweet syrupy taste, but the vegetal/medicinal note pervades in the finish. Body is full as would be expected. This beer has problems.

Dark golden amber color. A touch sweet malty nose with apples, pears and hay notes. Very malty, lots of apples and pears. The finish is very boozy and a bit unbalanced. A bit hard to drink as it is too sweet and not balanced. A boozy malty beverage that doesn’t impress.

Cask at the Reading beer festival. Amber. Rich toffee and lots of fruitiness. Heady and sweet but well balanced. A good beer to drink slowly and carefully at the end of the evening.

Cask at SIBA Beer X. Lovely looking, clear amber. Bubbly, lasting, white head. Light caramel. Some boozy fruit. A lick of saltiness. Warmth on the palate. One to take time over.

On tap at Bangers & Lace. Pours a near clear deep amber orange with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of sweet grains, light caramel, grass and pine. Flavor is also a bit hoppy for a Barleywine with pine notes but is balanced by sweet grains and caramel.

Location: Swing top bomber from Sparrow, 1/29/13,
as Green Jack Rippa, Batch #86, Bottled 08 10 13
Aroma: The nose is fruity and malty, some apple, butterscotch, caramel, and English hops
Appearance: This one pours a somewhat murky looking reddish-orange color with a thick, lasting beige head that leaves a great, fairly coasting lace left on the glass
Flavor: The taste is mid-sweet up-front, caramel/butterscotch, with a light-medium bitter finish
Palate: The body is medium, leaning light, with a soft mouthfeel, and a semi-dry finish
Overall Impression: This one is a pretty interesting beer. I thought it was pretty tasty. I can see how this would work really well on cask, which I assume was the main goal. Tasty stuff.
