10th November 2008. Clear brown beer - no real head. Nicely balanced. Full flavoured malt - smooth with a touch of marmaladey hop. Nutty too. Easy drinking and not escapes the English ale curse of over dryness!

Cask handpull at Humphrey Bean JDW, Tonbridge. Mahogany colour with lasting beige head. Some malt sweetness on aroma, some choc. Not exactly full in mouth which lets it down a bit. I suppose there is some honey in there somewhere. An ok choccy honey beer which is just a little too watery in the mouth, but the flavours are overall good.

[Cask at Back of Beyond, Reading] Deep golden with a slight white head. A pleasant but rather faint honey flavour up front fails to disguise a fairly average beer behind. Drinkable but forgettable.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 1/6/08. This was unusual for a honey infused beer in that it was dark - mahogany coloured with a slight reddish tinge. The aroma had some dusty chocolate powder, red fruit and a hint of honey. The flavour had plenty of chocolate malt with some Crunchie bar before a decent bitter finish. Very enjoyable [3.6]. Tried again at the Bag O’Nails, 3/1/10. Looked the same as before, but the honey was largely absent, leaving an indifferent brown bitter [2.8]
