Schilling was invited to participate in the American Zoigl Project by our friends at Goldfinger Brewing Co. This historically-based communal lager brewing project was commissioned by Goldfinger in 2023. An American lager utilizing grain from Valley Malt (MA) and malted corn from Riverbend (NC), our Zoigl is deep gold in color with spice-forward hops, light corn (per the style), and a hint of sweet bready malts to round out the finish.

Undated can drunk 3/12/25.
Clear deep, maize-brass-golden. Large, off-white head, good retention.
Rich corn and hop spice with some biscuity malts and light minerality. Clean and aromatic with more corn complexities on the finish.
Spicy hops up front yield excellent floral notes, herbal spice and healthy bitterness. Excellent malt/corn texture yet with very little sweetness. Light, probably from using the corn. But not thin, of course. Round and flavorful on the finish, gently fruity with lingering corn and hop notes. Clean and balanced, polished and interesting, unsurprisingly.

Belcher at the roost pours a clear dark gold with some sticky white head. Grainy and griety, whole grain bread, a little corn. Flavor has yeast and corn and malt. Clean, medium bodied finish. Well made.

16 oz can. Aroma is sweet bread, mild corn with a hint of mineral. Flavor follows with a good mineral quality. It does have a lightly sweet bread finish. It has a nicely refreshing finish.
