12th May 2012 saw me on a pub crawl of Shrewsbury: third pub was ‘The Old Post Office’ and a hand pulled pint of this. Golden look to it, with a small white crown on top. Nose was fairly sweet: caramel and toffee being the maltiness I picked up (just like the bottled version). Bitter more than smooth in the taste and mouth feel, fruit malty biscuits giving some sweetness. Good depth of flavours and body strength for a 3.6% offering.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A golden beer with a lazing yellowish head. The aroma has notes of citrusy and elderflower hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and citrusy hops, leading to a dry and lightly bitter finish.

Cask at the Redan, while watching Federer v. Djokovic. Pours clear gold with a creamy, white head. Nose holds some tangy, biscuity malts. Fairly sweet flavor, tangy malts, some biscuits, hay and straw. Light in body with fine carbonation. Bready malts to finish, some straight sugar, very faint bitterness. Meh.

Thanks to Chris Excell. Drunk at White Lion Tenterden. Clear pale amber colour. Sickly sweet caramel toffee aroma. Its a little sweet. Its nit great but not horrible either. Still dont want to drink it though. Fast cask and just a bit of a mess with the yeast malt and hop no t quite working in harmony

Pint at the Duke Of Somerset, Aldgate East. Wasn’t expecting much here given the lagery nature of this pub and my long experience of naff beerf served here! However pleasantly surprised by this lightly hazy golden beer with a little white head. Palate is neutral to slighty dry. Nice amount of light malt balanced by some mild but pleasing citrus. Semi dry finish. Very drinkable and great flavour for it’s modest abv. Could have sessioned this quite happily! Given I had the best pint of Peroni ever in here a few weeks back - perhaps someone is taking care of the beers here eh? Only waited 12 years for this!

Cask at the Monroe, Liverpool. This was served in poor condition, with a strong metallic tang dominating proceedings that I couldn’t put down solely to the beer. In any case, what was struggling to make its presence felt was a drab, insipid and lifeless bitter with some vague citrus notes.

Cask at the Union, Kingswinford. Pours golden with a medium head. Some honey on the nose, with pale malt and some citrus. Mild citrus starts with a light, hoppy finish. A bit watery but it is a low abv. Drinkable but I’d prefer something with more taste, more oomph.
