A strong, dark brown beer, offering a dominantly malty palate with nutty overtones. The finish is lyrically sweet that speaks for its strength. A fine partner to the Cheese Board.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 16/12/09. Medium brown in colour with a slight, tan head. Sweet aroma of prunes, dates, nuts and spice, with a touch of earthiness. Flavour was also sweet, with more fruit and nuts, some chocolate and a decent bitter finish. A good winter warmer.

Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. I’ve had this in bottle so wanted to try it on cask. Looks in cracking condition. Very deep ruby colour with lasting beige head. Flavour of rich malt liquorice. It really is rather good. Aroma has some sour dark fruits. Good in mouth. Slightly sweet to balance the sour fruit. Nice hop kick on the finish. Warming English winter beer. Good stuff
