A classic ruby dark mild, smooth like velvet, sweet and creamy, you’d be fooled into thinking we were talking about a chocolate box selection.

Cask at the Elm Tree, Cambridge. Dark mahogany pour, with a thin broken bubbly tan head. Weak aroma, leading to a nice malty, slightly bitter flavour. Some smooth citrus notes on the palate. A very drinkable session ale. The English mild is back!

Hand pulled pint in The Crown Inn (Oakengates) on 29th March 2012. Lovely looking deep, dark ruby red tinge to the body: on top a rich, creamy, tan coloured head sat and stayed. The aroma was of mildly burnt malts with a hoppy undertone. The taste followed the nose but with extra flavours to savour: little chocolate and vanilla notes added to the roasted/toasted/burnt maltiness with again a hop presence that stopped the beer becoming too sweet or malty. Nice blend and a fine mild.
