SIBA National Champion 2012 - Bottled Beer. An American-inspired IPA; powerfully hopped and packed with tropical fruit aromas and flavours. Big malt content to balance the massive hop character. Not for the fainthearted. Drink it fresh to really capture those hop aromas. Bottle: all year. Cask: a few times a year. Keg: rare special.

Bottle from Waitrose, Gordano M5 services near Bristol. Clear amber coloured with a very thin head. Full fruity pale ale with a hoppy dryness behind this, but always flavoursome and full of character.

Cask. Maltings, York. Amber colour. Light haze. Dense, creamy, lasting, milky white head. Huge, juicy, fruity, dank hop. Notes of ripe peach. Melon. Pine resin. Some strawberry. Sweet, toffee malts in the background. Smells fantastic. Taste sets off sweet, getting fruity, resinous bitter. Smooth, hop oily mouthfeel. A bit chewy. Long, resinous, oily bitter finish. Great stuff. Can’t help thinking it’d be a 4.6er if it was kegged, though!

Cask ale, half, shared with Finn while waiting for a train at Piccadilly Tap. Near-clear amber coloured body, covering beige layer, fair lacing. Restrained aromas of caramel, dried fruit and grass. Fruity taste of lemony hops and grapefruit backed by malty sweetness. Dry bitter end with a twist of citrus shells. Fine bodied. Pleasing stuff (Manchester 15.02.2016).

500ml bottle @Mad for Beer (Rome). Pours a light amber color, unclear, with a medium and persistent off-white head. Aroma of malt, grassy hops, pine and grapefruit. Flavour is balanced between malt and hops, medium sweet with a medium bitter end. Medium body, medium to light carbonation. Ok.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Slightly unclear orange color, medium to full sized white head that lasts for quite a while. Aroma is lightly malts, very nicely hoppy, quite fruity, quite floral and some blossom. Taste lightly malts, again nicely hoppy, nicely bitter, floral, blossom, lightly grassy. Decent body and carbonation. Quite a pleasant surprise this one. Really nice.
