Cask from the White Swan JDW, Solihull. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy tan head. The aroma is liquorice, chocolate. The flavour is moderate sweet, with a smooth, roasty, chocolate, light liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Handpull cask at the Salmon, Leicester. Mid- to dark brown, very translucent with an uneven beige head and lots of lacing. Mega-malty aroma, loads of chocolate, touches of black grape. Taste is sweet, again very malty, with only touches of fruity bitterness toward the finish. Blueberry, chocolate and grape in the aftertaste. A proper decent porter.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. The nose is fruity mixed with chocolate. A bit watery in the mouth, but dark fruits are there, together with malt loaf, chocolate and hints of coffee. Some hoppiness comes through in the finish. Not wildly exciting, but OK.
