At 3.8%, Otter Dark is a traditionally dark brown session beer with a soft mouth feel. The wide range of floor malted barleys deliver a substantial malty base flavour with balanced bitterness from the chocolate.

The traditional English hops ensure this beer is traditional to the Otter stable and deliver fruit and bitterness in the taste with a gentle bitter finish.

Third of a pint, hand-pulled in my local Spoons on 10th March 2024. Deep ruby body, cream coloured head. Roasted and toasted malts with a hint of sweetness. This is a decent, no nonsense and solid Mild.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and nuts in the aroma. Malts again to the fore in the mouth, alongside dark fruits. It’s fairly sweet overall but with some underlying bitterness and smoky hints. Later on humbugs and milky coffee come into the equation too, leading to some dryness in the finish. This is decent.

16th April 2010. Clear brown beer. Light semi soft and semi dry palate. Mild tangy fruit - orange and subtle plum underpins a little mild toasty malt. Easy drinking and inoffensive.
