Cask ale at Barrel Vault, half pint shared with Finn. Wetherspoon Beer Festival, March 24. Ruby-black body, filmy layer, fair lacing. Nicely roasted malty aromas, mid-sweet. Mixed taste of caramel malts, nuts, and liquorice. Smoothly roasted end. Nice mild version. (London, 16.03.2024).

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A dark chestnut brown pour with a loose beige head; aroma of toasted malts; sweet malty taste with some bitter hedgerow hops and some caramel; then a dry earthy finish. A nice mild.

Cask @ Crossed Peels, Stirling. Amber-brown with a small head. Bland mild with some dark character providing flavour, drinkable enough though.

Third of a pint, hand-pulled in my local Spoons on 10th March 2024. Deep ruby body, cream coloured head. Roasted and toasted malts with a hint of sweetness. This is a decent, no nonsense and solid Mild.

Cask at Standing Order, Derby. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small foamy cream head and good lacing. There’s malts and nuts in the aroma. Malts again to the fore in the mouth, alongside dark fruits. It’s fairly sweet overall but with some underlying bitterness and smoky hints. Later on humbugs and milky coffee come into the equation too, leading to some dryness in the finish. This is decent.

16th April 2010. Clear brown beer. Light semi soft and semi dry palate. Mild tangy fruit - orange and subtle plum underpins a little mild toasty malt. Easy drinking and inoffensive.
