[Gravity cask at the Back of Beyond, Reading] Black with a thin tan head. Coconut evident in the aroma but not in the flavour. Toasted malt and milk chocolate come through in the mouth, with a bitter, roasty follow-through in a very thick mouthfeel. Flavours not as strong as I expected, but it’s still a pleasing drink, and surprisingly easy-drinking. Banks do seem to do well with these guest brewers.

Cask at the Monks Retreat (JDW), Reading. Black with a tawny hue and a tan head; earthy, woody aroma; oily texture and a strong woody flavour; with a dry finish. Interesting, but I wouldn’t really want a second helping of this.

Cask at Fleur De Lys, JDW, Banbury, Oxon, 20-04-10 Pours almost black in colour with a cappucinno looking head. Loads of milk chocolate on the nose and then its noted in the mouth. Roasty and bitter some toasted macaroon is the closet I get to getting the coconut. Nice beer. A7 A4 F7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Cask@JDW, Hoylake. A dark brown ruby tinged affair with a medium sized foamy, lingering tan head. Aroma was candy sweet with fruit and coconut notes. Flavour was pretty decent, once again sweetish, with plenty of roast and chocolate, tasty hop bitterness mingling nicely with.... yes sir, some coconut. Liked it plenty.
