12th April 2010. Clear gold beer. No head. Very moderate carbonation. Crispish palate. Light tart elderflower then some orange and apple. Not a green beer though - so the apple is a good thing! Dry finish.

[Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading] Pale, slightly hazy gold with a slight white head. Sweet Belgian yeast aroma of candy sugar and artificial strawberry. Heavier hopping than would be the case in Belgium prevents sickliness, with pineapple, ginger, cinnamon and a decent bitterness coming through. An interesting effort, although I’m not sure how much I’d want to drink of it. Would have very definitely classified this as a Belgian ale rather than a golden.

Cask @ Counting House, JDW. Clear golden colour, medium dense white head. Aroma is lemonade, fruits, biscuit, almost perfumy. Flavour is wheaty, banana, yeast, fruity . Indeed, resembles a belgian white. Decent malty backbone. Fairly dry and slightly bitter finish. Interesting mix of belgian and british styles. Extremely drinkable.

Cask handpull at Samuel Peto, JDW, Folkestone. Pale gold, lasting white head. Faint Belgian yeast aroma. Good sherbert hop flavour and finish. It’s ok if just not overly adventurous. Good to have something different.
