Poured from a 22 oz bottle, 2016 vintage. Aroma is malt forward with chocolate, light roast and tobacco notes. Medium light cognac notes with some raisin, plum and fig. Hints of oak and alcohol spice. Pours dark brown to black with a medium large, moderately thick, light mocha head that recedes somewhat quickly to a thin film that lingers. Light lacing and moderate length legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with some chocolate notes with light roast and leather. Light oak and alcohol spice. Medium cognac notes with some dark fruit notes. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer. Cognac notes and nice and fruity adding good complexity and balancing out all the malt notes. 3.8 2015 Vintage - Aroma is more malt forward as the cognac and dark fruit notes have faded a bit. A bit more roast and leather notes. Flavor is nice with a solid sweetness and a balance between the chocolate and cognac notes. Again, the cognac and dark fruit notes are a bit lighter than in the 2016 vintage which I think helps. The flavor does not have any leather notes creeping in but does have a bit more roast than the 2016.

2016, bomber split two ways. Local store had a case.
A - Oily black pour, insanely carbed cap pop. Wax put up a fight that’s for sure. poured a 3 finger creamy thick tan head.
S - smells of marshamallow, vanilla, fig and old coffee beans overly roasted and bitter.
T - Sweet to bitter to very bitter. Even abit of prune juice at the end. this one is very rough around the edges...not in a fresh boozy way just the flavors are really intense
M - Thin, oily and goes down with a resounding bitterness
O - Decent but it just makes me want to drink another BA Stout to wash it down.

22 oz. bottle in a trade with AdamChandler. Slow canted pour should huge full tan foam with plenty of lace. Aroma shows mild oak, mellow bourbon, roasted malt. the flavor has a lasting honey sweetness that is cut down by oak and decent / subtle bourbon. Body is full with a nice creamy texture. Flavor is equal parts oak / bourbon/ sweetness. Really nice even after drinking 19 ounces and getting to room temperature.

Shared at Jim's tasting. Dark pour with a tan head. Notes of cognac, dried fruit, caramel, tons of sugar. Too damn sweet.

Tasting at Matt’s, CG/1 2016
Black color with brown head. Aroma of apples, some wood, smoke, mild ashes. Smooth mouthfeel, chocolate flavor, chocolate, no depth.
Good, nowhere near the price point.

Dark brown. Thin head. On the nose, the cognac stands out first and foremost, with prominent wood. The stout character is thin for Eclipses, but there’s a honey character, and woody finish. The finish ends up being thin.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium light brown head. Aroma brings out cognac barrel upfront, followed by light-medium roasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with loads of cognac dominating, followed by roasted malt. Heavy palate, with a load of cognac on the finish. Excellent, but I've had better Eclipses.

At Sycamore, vintage 2016. Aroma is more dark and overripe fruit, raisin, dried fruit, less wood. Lighter in body, still boozy, but much much less. More honey character, too. One that I like rather more than many others.
