Named after the Norse trickster God, Loki is beautifully balanced and deceptively strong. Malt-forward and hoppy, with dry-hopping for added depth. Not usually an IPA fan? Loki may surprise you. This one’s tricky—watch yourself.

Pine, wood and caramel dominate nose. Mouth is med-full, malt accented. Fairly round, but lacks a lot of depth. Decent enough, but pretty middle of the road for the style.

Keg at National Beer Hall, Calgary. It pours clear amber, with a thin off-white head. The nose is pine, resin, leaf, toast and some underlying caramel sweetness. The taste is caramel, sweet dark fruit, faint tanginess, pine, resin, leaf and toast, with a dry finish. Medium body, average carbonation and somewhat sticky mouth-feel. Hides alcohol well. Not bad

Bottle - Malty hop rye aroma. Very cloudy either little head. Nice creamy double without the yeast hit or alcohol finish.

Bottle from Brewery Creek
To start with, the top of the neck breaks while I’m removing the cap; it pours a dark amber and red color, with medium sized creamy head. The aroma is creamy, or buttery if you prefer, with light cookies. Correct body strength, sweetish caramel, strong bitterness (and long final), but still buttery. It gets better after some time let breathing in the glass. I don’t mind buttery flavor, so I’m not put off, but the beer is nothing exceptional.

355mL bottle, pours a cloudy dark orange brown with an off-white head. Aroma of earthy hops, pine and caramel. Flavour of rye, wood and light resinous / earthy hops. Very nice - certainly found it better than the average rater, unusually.

Muddy, dull darkish amber. Weird aroma with lemon candy and bubblegum. Wtf? Phenols, paint thinner. On the palate, this goes nowhere - muddy vague hops, no brightness. The body is a bit thin. There’s some phenols in there as well. A real disappointment.
